Bleacher Report: With Brittney Griner’s college career wrapping up and a long, dominant basketball career looming, Mark Cuban asks a question that I’m sure many of us have thought about: What about the NBA?
Cuban told reporters before the Dallas Mavericks’ game against the Los Angeles Lakers that not only would he give her a chance, he would draft her if she was the best player left that would potentially make an impact.
Somebody cue Don Imus! Well, I wouldn’t mind seeing this play out. If women want equality, they have to earn it. No more WNBA. No more LPGA. From now on, the best person for the job gets the job, no consideration of sex. If you’re good enough to make the team, you make the team. If you are good enough for the B team, that’s what team you make.
Women can talk all they want about how they want equal wages, equal opportunities, etc. But until they realize the hypocrisy of things like the WNBA. Don’t forget the old Disney cartoons that tell little girls that they don’t need to be good at anything as long as they’re attractive and marry a rich man. Until women get rid of those, they won’t make progress. Personally, I think they had it better before, when they could just do laundry and hang out at home chatting with their girlfriends on the phone and watching Maury. Back when men were men, and could drink whiskey and smoke cigars at work.
PS. Did anybody immediately think of the movie Juwanna Mann when they saw the title of this post?
