Despite tough economic times, Nike is about to go where it has never gone before: Its Lebron X sneakers are expected to retail for $315. That’s the first time a pair of its kicks breaks the $300 barrier.
We’ve all seen the videos of poor people waiting on line for sneakers at the mall overnight. The ones where the headline is “Scores of Weaves Strewn About the Floor in Florida Mall after Brawl”. The ones where there are like two or three kids behind the reporter making faces into the camera, as police interview witnesses to a stampede/riot.
Poor people go wild for expensive sneakers. We will never know why. But one thing’s for sure. Hundreds of thousands of children will go without food for a few days when these bad boys are released. $315 is like a month’s welfare.
