ESPN: Rex Ryan has seen enough of Mark Sanchez.
The New York Jets coach made the dramatic, but expected decision Tuesday, benching the only starting quarterback he’s had in four years. Ryan will give Greg McElroy his first career start Sunday at home against the San Diego Chargers.
That bit I wrote earlier about how nobody wants to hear about the Jets anymore, nobody wants to be updated every time Tebow does his laundry, nobody wants to hear any more about Jets players getting DUIs or being sued for child support. But what everybody wants to hear about is the Mark Sanchez era in New York has finally ended. I’ve been saying this entire time that he is NOT a starting QB grade player. He didn’t even start for a full season in college before he went pro, and the only reason he went pro the year he did is because he knew that the next year would have Sam Bradford, Tim Tebow, and Colt McCoy in the draft. No way would Sanchez get drafted before any of these guys. He knew that that was his year to get first round money and if he waited too long he’d lose out.
He never showed any improvement. He had a few games where he looked good, but at BEST, Sanchez was a good game manager. And all that shit means is he is good at handing the ball off when the defense gave up three points and had a pick six and the Jets are up 14 points with 6 minutes in the fourth. And even then, he isn’t exactly managing anything when you consider the fact that he gets all the plays told to him via radio. All he does is tell the other players. FUCK Mark Sanchez.
