Bleacher Report: NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Jeremy Clements reportedly used an unidentified racial slur in an interview with a writer at Daytona International Speedway. That slip-up has cost him dearly, as Clements has been indefinitely suspended from racing.
Raise your hand if you would expect a NASCAR driver to NOT use racial slurs. I did a little Internet detective work (went to Wikipedia) and found out that this guy’s from South Carolina, which of course was the first state to secede from the Union. Now we don’t know for sure which racial slur he used, but given that the n-bomb is probably the most used racial slur, I think we can safely assume it’s what he said.
However, I do feel bad for the guy. He’s still in his 20’s and his life is basically over already. You can’t use that word if you’re in the public eye and not regret it for the rest of your life. This guy will be getting hate mail until the day he dies. And there are a lot of worse things a person can do than use the n-word, some of which you wouldn’t even be suspended for. Look, racists are assholes. But they’ve got the right to an opinion. I understand that you don’t always have the right to voice that opinion while you’re wearing your official NASCAR uniform with sponsors’ names written all over it. But as a private citizen, there’s nothing illegal about being a racist, you just can’t act on those beliefs. Again, there are a lot of worse crimes than believing black people are this or that or Asians are this or that or good at math.
By the way, I came to the conclusion that Affirmative Action is even more racist than I originally thought because there really aren’t any Asian programs. It’s only for African Americans, Hispanics, and Native Americans. Asians don’t need any help, so they don’t get any, yet they’re still a minority in this country. So really Affirmative Action not only is racial discrimination against whites, it’s also discriminatory against certain minorities. Get rid of Affirmative Action. Best man or woman for the job or for the position get it. Don’t need to ask about race. You can volunteer the information if you want to as an applicant, but it shouldn’t matter to any employer or admissions office.
By the way NASCAR sucks. This is something that the southern states need to fess up to. But if the conservative states secede, I’m moving there. I am more than willing to abandon my Northern heritage if it means I get to keep my American heritage, even if it means more fat people and racists. I’d rather be free and living in Virginia than be living under a government microscope with the communists just one or two subway stops away in Washington DC.
