Source: Five students from Community Christian School in Martin County have been arrested in connection with the sale of stolen guns on the private school campus, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday. The sheriff’s office said their investigation began in mid-May after a tip that two students may have brought guns to school to be sold. Investigators went to the school and following several interviews, determined that one student had burglarized a home on six different occasions and stole five weapons from a safe.
OK, well, you shouldn’t get away with stealing guns and selling them, especially selling them on school campuses. Campi? Campuses? IDK. But I knew two girls that would bring a tiny little pistol to school every day when I was in high school, which, in New York State, is a crime. You cannot bring a firearm within something like 1000 feet of a school, and you need a carry permit to carry one anyway, which is extremely hard to get. I’m sure there were plenty more people who brought guns to school but they just never told anybody. One girl I knew had a tiny little .380 with a 6-round mag she would keep in her bra. She had a bra holster. Nobody but me knew and maybe one other person knew she brought a gun to school every day, nobody needed to know, and she never needed to use it, but she did walk home from school every day. And during the winter when it gets dark early and you stay late for practice, sometimes you’re walking home in the dark. Alone.
Do I think people should be allowed to bring guns to school? IDK. I haven’t made up my mind. There are obviously responsible people that do it all the time. I went to a school in a safe neighborhood but that can’t be said for everybody.
