There is no such thing as “gun control”. There is only people control. Social and psychological manipulation. The video makes some good points but it’s a bit wacky. I mean, it’s the kind of video that a liberal would just dismiss and go to another video after about 10 seconds. What I mean is, it’s a little too biased. But it’s still scary as shit.
People forget about what the 2nd Amendment really is about. It’s about making the playing field equal between the government and the people. It’s supposed to prevent tyranny. That’s why the 3rd Amendment was right after it. Don’t forget, folks. A right is a claim against the government’s ability. That’s what it is. It is a check on the government’s power. Read the 1st Amendment, for instance. It doesn’t say “All Americans have the right to free speech.” It says “Congress shall make no law…” See? It’s a check on the government’s power.
That’s what the 2nd Amendment is too. People forget that. I had an argument with a socialist who thinks all guns should be outright banned. And that the fact that we’d ever have to defend ourselves from the government is ridiculous. When I responded, he quickly changed the topic. He had no response. He said something like “well, still…” And here is what I had said:
The United States is the oldest, longest running government in the world. The US Constitution is the oldest one still in use. No other country in the world has had a more stable government as long as we have. They’ve all overthrown their own governments. France came after. Germany came after. Russia, China, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, every country. You could make a case for the United Kingdom, because technically, they have no constitution. They just have a series of laws that overrule older ones to some extent. You could say that their government began when King John signed the Magna Carta in 1215. But over the course of the last decades and centuries, that UK government has gone through such drastic changes that the modern government would be unrecognizable to a 17th Century Briton. Even the House of Lords basically does nothing anymore.
My point there is, is the 2nd Amendment worked! The threat of private citizens owning guns has successfully intimidated the government and prevented them from using unnecessary force against its own citizens. We have never had anything like the Boston Massacre, or the Quartering Acts, or any of the other Intolerable Acts. These are the types of things that patriots like Patrick Henry spoke out against, and now our own government is doing away with them merely as a ploy.
I just don’t get how people don’t want rights. Rights are a claim against government’s powers. If we don’t act to protect our rights then we’re just going to end up without free will. Am I willing to die to defend my rights? I sure as shit am. 2nd Amendment included.
