September 18 is National Cheeseburger Day.
Ah the cheeseburger. It’s as American as, well, American cheese. But that’s as far as the patty’s origin gets narrowed down. Various eating establishments (mostly in California) claim to have invented the cheeseburger. The Pasadena Sun did due diligence in investigating the burger’s background and while it heavily leans toward one over the other, it’s left undecided.
Today’s winners: America, American people, freedom, gluttony, life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness. Also the people who work for the meat industry and food service industry.
Today’s losers: France, Socialism, Communism, those evil vegetarians and vegans, Europe, the actual cows that we’re eating, Hinduism, possibly sects of Buddhism, people who hate America like hardcore liberals.
